Taïtamuki

Taitamuki is a vibrant quartet that bridges ancestral memory and contemporary sound. Their name, drawn from two Quechua words -taita (father, ancestor, sage) and amuki (silence)-evokes the wisdom of silence. It reflects the group's poetic mission: to let the voices of the ancestors resonate in today's world, at a time when traditional Latin American music is fighting to be heard.

Rooted in the rich musical heritage of Ecuador and Latin America, Taitamuki crafts a unique sound that fuses powerful folkloric rhythms with the harmonic freedom of jazz and the spontaneity of improvisation. Their repertoire-featuring reinterpretations, arrangements, and original works-is
the result of deep musical research and cultural respect. Audiences are taken on a sonic journey through san juanito (Ecuador), candombe (Uruguay), maxixe (Brazil), chacarera (Argentina), takirari (Bolivia), and other vibrant rhythms from across the continent.

Formed by acclaimed musicians active on both the Belgian and international scenes, Taitamuki released their debut album on HomeRecords in May 2024, with a celebrated launch at Muziekpublique in Brussels. The album quickly garnered critical attention and was nominated for Best World Music Album at the 2025 Belgian Worldwide Music Awards.
